Carigeen is Irish Gaelic for a little hill.
The one I'm thinking of is a beautiful field on the little farm where I was born in the West of Ireland. It was a child's heaven with mushrooms and blackberries and a little stream perfect for damming and a donkey called Leatherlugs.
I've done some extraordinary things, survived all of them and regretted only a few.
I've lived in Ireland, Yemen, Indonesia, Sweden and Germany. I've built electricity networks, drift netted salmon, wrote training manuals, cut turf, ran courses, wrote software, dug potatos and swept chimneys.
I've been with the love of my life S__ for many, many years through good times and bad. Our two children S____ and P_____ have grown into wonderfull people, in spite of their father's example!
Last year the winds and tides of the world blew 300 refugees to my town. Since then many have become our dearest friends.
I'll never be able to repay them for the lessons they have given me in how to live life well. They sing and laugh in the face of danger, despair and death.
